Approximate Ages 10-12
Whether it is crossing through a mountain stream on a hot day, sleeping under the stars on a crystal clear Colorado night, or climbing your first peak to see a spectacular Rocky Mountain sunrise, our Explorer/Discovery adventures are full of incredible first experiences. The 4-week Discovery program and its 2-week counterpart Explorers are designed to be a healthy mix of fun and exciting residential camp experiences and a true wilderness adventure. Campers spend the first part of every week participating in an array of activities including; horseback riding, swimming and canoeing in Steamboat Lake, and participating in fun themed activities like “Old West Day” and the Poulter Camps Regatta.
At the end of each week groups will go on a 2 or 3 night backpacking trips in the beautiful national forest of Northwestern Colorado. Campers will learn how to pack their packs, set up shelters and live and play in the woods. The backpacking trips are designed to introduce children into the wilderness and give them a positive sense of accomplishment.
With small group sizes and a 3:1 camper to counselor ratio, relationships can flourish; building friendships that will last for many summers to come.
