Expedition Bound
Approximate Ages 12-13

Expedition Bound is a unique adventure program where teenagers learn technical skills that enable them to feel comfortable and competent in a wilderness setting while also having the experience of a residential camp program. Campers spend four days a week on the trail and the other three days in camp in Steamboat Springs. The wilderness adventures include hiking and backpacking in the Zirkel and Flattops wilderness areas, rock climbing, desert excursions, and river trips. While in camp, participants have the opportunity to take part in activities including horseback riding, day hiking, arts and crafts projects, archery and camp fires to name a few.

Perhaps the most meaningful aspect of the Expedition Bound program is the teamwork involved. Campers help each other overcome obstacles and challenges both in camp and on wilderness trips. They leave Expedition Bound with a stronger sense of self, new skills, and abiding friendships that often extend well beyond the dates of the session.

Expedition Bound counselors are skilled wilderness guides who emphasize safety at all times and are passionate about passing on their knowledge of the outdoors. Groups include 2-4 counselors and 6-10 campers.
